Continuing Recovery Through Counseling & Behavioral Therapies

Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an integral part of our opioid addiction recovery Program. However, medications are only the first half of our comprehensive efforts. This, in turn, frees you to address the underlying causes of your addiction through counseling & behavioral therapies with the trained professionals from Hillsborough Recovery Solutions.

Our addiction recovery center uses counseling and more specialized psychotherapies as part of our Program to seek, understand, and treat overall drug usage within each patient. From this understanding, we can teach the skills necessary to avoid high-risk situations that may lead to illicit use and offer additional behavioral and cognitive strategies to cope effectively with those situations if they cannot be avoided. With our help, patients can change their behaviors, thoughts, emotions, and how see and react to situations.

Recovery Resources

There are additional behavioral treatments available through our center. Our counselors have the resources to refer you to everything you may need before, during, and after our program, such as:

  • Peer Support Groups
  • 12-Step Programs like Narcotics Anonymous
  • Spiritual & Faith-Based Groups
  • HIV Testing & Hepatitis Screening Facilities
  • Case or Care Management
  • Employment or Educational Supports
  • Housing or Transportation Assistance Organizations

Types of Behavioral Therapies

Individual and group counseling includes a variety of approaches to treat behavioral health issues. All the counseling and behavioral treatments at Hillsborough Recovery Solutions are conducted by trained clinicians such as psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors to ensure personalization of ongoing outpatient therapies and support. A small sample of the treatments in our Program may include:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps you identify and stop negative thinking patterns and behavior. During CBT, you’ll learn essential coping skills such as managing stress and ignore thoughts that make you want to abuse opioids. This therapy may also include other principles of operant conditioning such as setting goals, talking about setbacks, celebrating progress, and relapse prevention.

Couples & Family Therapy

When individual therapies require augmentation for better results, we can incorporate families and couples into treatments. The participants – partners, spouses, and other family members - help repair and improve relationships, providing more incentives for patients to stay clean.

Group Counseling

Group counseling is one of the most valuable recovery methods, as it shows patients they are not alone in their struggle. Hearing and learning about the similar challenges and successes others have had in their fight against addiction builds strength and resilience and helps you learn new strategies for dealing with adverse situations.

Motivational Enhancement Therapy

With motivation enhancement therapy, you can build and maintain the fortitude and motivation to stick with your treatment plan and achieve easier success over time.

Contingency Management

Contingency Management trains you to allow yourself incentives and rewards for positive behavior, such as abstinence from opioids when an opportunity arises.

Personalized Therapy

Through our Program, you’ll learn to handle stressful situations and environmental cues that may trigger intense craving for drugs.

  • Increased Life Skills: Allows you to focus on life, responsibilities, and employment. It helps you to develop the social, practical, and relationship skills you need to succeed in your endeavors.
  • Adherence to Treatment: Once new positive behavior is learned and incorporated into everyday life, it becomes second nature. This behavior means abstinence from opioids and adherence to beneficial medical regimens to keep you healthy and drug-free for life.
